Doesn't this make you want to walk up and give him a big hug? That's probably not a good idea. Most bear attacks occur near campsites or picnic areas, often in national parks or national forests. Others take place at rural garbage dumps that bears come to primarily in order to look for food. Finding nothing new in my compost pile, the bear stopped for a quick rub. </p></div> Sun, 07 Aug 2011 16:03:38 -0400 http://www.petramainewildlife.com/060111-photos/060111-184324.html maine black bearcute bearblack bear photosblack bear pictureswildlife photoswildlife photographytruth camprimos cameraaroostook countyst. agatha mainepetra maine 06/01/11 18:43:23 http://www.petramainewildlife.com/060111-photos/060111-184323.html <div class="article-summary"><p>Black bears, and bears in general, are more dangerous when they enter your domain than they are when you enter theirs. For example, the bear that is digging through your trash can is more likely to attack you than the one you happen upon in the forest. For one thing, you'll probably never even see the one in the forest. Located, as it is, in the forests of Petra, Maine, and not near anyone's house, this compost pile more closely represents the bear's domain than mine, although I wouldn't want to be standing there taking these pictures myself. The photos are taken from a Primos Truth Cam 35, which is a wildlife camera, mounted to a tree just outside the compost area. </p></div> Sun, 07 Aug 2011 16:03:38 -0400 http://www.petramainewildlife.com/060111-photos/060111-184323.html maine black bearblack bear photosblack bear pictureswildlife photosbear photographswildlife photographyaroostook countypetra mainesaint agatha mainest. john valley 06/01/11 18:43:21 http://www.petramainewildlife.com/060111-photos/060111-184321.html <div class="article-summary"><p>The bear is beginning his quick session of rubbing his head and body on this flattened cardboard box at my compost pile in Petra, Maine. The camera is a Primos Truth Cam 35 wildlife camera that is mounted to a tree just outside of the roped-in compost pile. The compost itself is located in the woods well off a seasonal road that sees very little traffic, seeing as no one lives on this road. </p></div> Sun, 07 Aug 2011 16:03:38 -0400 http://www.petramainewildlife.com/060111-photos/060111-184321.html maine black bearblack bear photosblack bear photoblack bear picturespictures of black bearwildlife photoswildlife cameraprimos cameratruth campetra mainest. agatha mainesaint agatha mainearoostook countyst. john valley 06/01/11 18:43:19 http://www.petramainewildlife.com/060111-photos/060111-184319.html <div class="article-summary"><p>In this series of photographs, the black bear is at the compost area for less than a minute, and spends that time rubbing his head and body on a cardboard box in my compost area in Petra, Maine. </p></div> Sun, 07 Aug 2011 16:03:38 -0400 http://www.petramainewildlife.com/060111-photos/060111-184319.html maine black bearblack bear photosblack bear photoblack bear pictureswildlife camerapicture of black bearwildlife photosaroostook countynorthern mainest. agatha mainesaint agatha mainepetra mainetruth cam
