Having scared the moose off, the only creature appearing in this ten-second clip is me, as I come to retrieve the disk from the camera. I appear distracted, partly because I was trying not to trip over anything, and also I was noting that nothing had been eaten of the corn or apples that I had left on the ground throughout this clearing.

After dumping the compostables in another part of the woods, I began walking out to the wildlife camera in order to retrieve the disk. I don't appear on camera in this clip, but I was close enough to see the moose running, and they made as much noise as a tree falling in the forest. They are running from me.

Another hour has gone by since we last saw the moose. At this point, not knowing the moose were there, I was in the woods depositing compostable materials in the compost area, which is quite a ways in the woods but in the direction that the moose is looking.

More of the same. I think the moose is trying to figure out how much protein might be gained from a wildlife camera. The Maine moose has been attracted by the camera, which is mounted to a tree in a clearing in the woods, probably by the audible clicks that it makes when snapping a photo, and is trying to figure it out. It is quite clear that the moose is not at all afraid of it but is, rather, intrigued.

Did you say that you wanted to see the underside of a moose's neck, up close and personal? My camera is a Primos Truth Cam 35, mounted on a tree in a clearing in the forests of Petra, Maine, and the moose is trying to figure out what it's doing there.

I think the moose is trying to eat the tree that my wildlife camera is mounted on. The camera is a Primos Truth Cam 35, and it is mounted on a tree facing a clearing in the wilderness of Petra, Maine, which is in northern Aroostook County, the state's northernmost county.

At this range, if the moose had ticks, you'd be able to see them clinging or crawling on his body. This is an extreme closeup of a Maine moose.

As you will see in this ten-second video, the moose is watching you are you are watching him. The moose is definitely curious as to what that thing mounted on the tree is. He really ought to see a dermatologist about that growth on his face.

Up close and personal, moose aren't the prettiest things you've ever seen, even under the best of circumstances, but this one still has its spring coat, and may have been fighting some winter ticks. The splotchy section should grow out during the summer.

Interestingly, a week ago I had put down some corn, still on the cob, and thrown some apples on the ground, after having had the camera at this location for a week without capturing anything on camera, yet the moose ignored the apples and corn, preferring to eat saplings from the clearing in the forests of Petra, Maine.

It is raining lightly, and a water spot has fallen onto the lens in the center right part of the screen, in case you were wondering about the smudge. As in the last clip, only one moose is currently on camera.

Here, one of the moose is coming closer to the camera, while the other has walked off camera, but is still in the neighborhood, and will reappear later.
