
The moose approaches the compost pile to see if the bear might have left something for him to eat. His coat looks pretty bad, but that's not unusual in the spring time. This is May 28th, and moose shed their winter coats in May and June. A part of the problem may also be due to ticks. In the winter, moose constantly groom and rub their coats in an attempt to dislodge ticks, which can also result in significant hair loss.
