
There's no bear in this picture. The bear has walked off camera. The Primos Truth Cam 35 wildlife camera is strapped to the trunk of a tree at the edge of a small clearing in the forest of Petra, Maine that is frequented by black bears. The camera is triggered by a combination of movement and body heat, which minimizes the number of wasted photographs. I usually have the camera set to take a series of five photos each time it's triggered. These are snapped within seconds of one another. The small white birch in front of the camera is a marking tree for bears, sometimes known as a bear tree or a message tree.
