Tracks left by a black bear in the forest are not always easy to find. Despite their large size, black bears don't generally leave distinct impressions unless they are walking over very soft ground such as mud or sand. Bear tracks usually consist of imprints of the animal's foot pads and toes, with five toes per foot, not very unlike those left by a person walking barefoot.
