Bird in flight

This is another photograph of a bird in flight over one of the fields of Petra, Maine. On both sides of the field, which would be the foreground and background of this photo, seasonal streams bring rainwater and water flowing down from the mountains that surround Petra into the small brook that flows behind the field, which would be to the right of the screen. The buffer areas between the cultivated parts of the field and the treeline are wet, providing beds for deer, moose, and possibly bear. Raspberries, blackberries, and a large variety of flowering weeds and plants grow there, and there are anthills that the black bears dig into, as ants make up a portion of the black bear's diet.
