This photograph of a Maine black bear was taken by a wildlife camera mounted to the trunk of a tree just behind the bear. It can be set to take still photos or short video, triggered by a combination of movement and body heat. Although you can find more expensive cameras, mine is a Primos Truth Cam 35 which cost me less than a hundred dollars new. It has been mounted to one tree or another since early spring, even before the snow melted. This spring and summer, we have had an unusual amount of rain here in Northern Maine's Aroostook County. Only once have we gone as long as three days without rain, and this camera has been out there in tremendous thunderstorms, yet it has held up well. If you are interested in buying a Primos camera, click on the Primos Truth Cam 35 image that can be seen in the left margin of all of these pages, and a new window will open up, taking you to the appropriate Amazon.com page. The cameras are available from the manufacturer but you'll pay considerably more for the same thing.
