At roughly the same time in the morning that we saw our Maine black bear yesterday, we see a black bear again today. That bear leaves, and a couple of hours later we see another black bear, which may or may not be the same bear. It's hard to tell because it's raining and the bears are soaking wet. That bear leaves and many hours later, long after dark, another bear comes up to the marking tree. One of the chief reasons that I think that these may not all be the same bears is their interest in the marking tree. My camera has been pointed on the marking tree the whole time and if every bear that approached it was the same bear, I don't know what the interest would be all about. In the night pictures, there's no way to determine which bear it might be, and the bear stays less than a minute, just long enough to see if any messages were left for him at the tree, I guess.
